Ryan Rogers

Duke University

Environmental Science and Policy and Marine Science and Conservation

Ryan Rogers is an undergraduate senior at Duke University and a Rachel Carson Scholar, majoring in Environmental Science and Policy with a concentration in Marine Science and Conservation. He is broadly interested in marine conservation and environmental education. He is also interested in further examining the complexities of marine habitats in order to develop novel restoration techniques, management practices and policy in order to effectively conserve and enhance coastal marine systems. Currently, Ryan is focusing on nearshore habitats, specifically salt marshes, and factors that determine the viability and success of habitat restoration techniques. In the future he hopes to obtain his Ph.D. and study topics related to Marine Ecology, Conservation Science and Ecosystems-Based Management. Ultimately, Ryan aspires to develop sustainable practices and policies to manage and conserve vulnerable marine habitats for the future.
